In April 1946, David Bernstein and his partner Joe Hain purchased a small storefront with garages in the rear — and a 1939 Chevrolet delivery van — founding United Chemical & Supply to serve the laundry and dry-cleaning trades.
In December 1983, Steve Hong formed United Fabricare Supply, Inc. and set the company on a path of steady expansion — growing from a single 25,000 square-foot warehouse into a network of facilities now exceeding 155,000 square feet across two states.
Today, United stocks the most comprehensive lines of cleaning chemicals, dry-cleaning supplies and laundry products available — one of the largest and most established fabricare supply distributors in California and Nevada.

A storefront and a Chevrolet

United Fabricare Supply is born
In December 1983, Steve Hong forms United Fabricare Supply, Inc., positioning the company for growth across the Southern California market.

Growth on two fronts
Having outgrown its 25,000 sq ft warehouse, United moves to a 55,000 sq ft facility — and forms United Cleaners Supply, Inc. with a new branch in Poway, absorbing the business of a departing major supplier along the way.
- 1997
Into Nevada
Service to Las Vegas begins in late 1996, and in June 1997 a new 35,000 sq ft facility opens in Henderson, Nevada.
- 1998
The Textile Division
United adds a full-service Textile Division — dyestuffs, auxiliary chemicals and related textile products — at a new facility at 1301 W. Walnut Street in Compton.
- 2009
Northern California
United Cleaners Supply, LLC is formed with over 30,000 sq ft of space in Santa Clara, extending service into the Northern California market.
- 2011
Workroom Supply joins
United acquires the business of Workroom Supply, adding customers across Northern California, Lake Tahoe and Reno.
- 2013
Hayward and beyond
The Northern California operation moves to a state-of-the-art facility in Hayward, and United acquires McGregor Supply of South Gate, California.
